Arches National Park is the Moab, Utah area's most popular scenic attraction. Boasting the largest concentration of natural arches in the world, the park is also home to other interesting formations, including spires, fins, and balanced rocks with catchy names such as Three Gossips, Marching Men, and Dark Angel. The park's red and orange sandstone sharply contrasts with the blue-hued La Sal Mountains visible in the distance. One of the park's most stunning red rock displays is the Fiery Furnace, a maze of narrow canyons exhibiting formations in every shape and size. Delicate Arch is by far the park's most recognizable landmark, however. Other named arches include Skyline Arch, Sand Dune Arch, Turret Arch and Landscape Arch, the park's longest span. Closer than most area hotels, Motel 6 lies only four miles from Arches National Park's entrance.
One of the Moab area's other popular attractions, Canyonlands National Park's Island in the Sky district, is only a 45-minute drive from your hotel room at Motel 6. Towering over 1,000 feet above the winding Colorado River, the Island in the Sky provides many stunning viewpoints of deep chasms filled with mesas, spires and buttes, including Canyonlands' signature White Rim. In addition to its scenic views, this section of Utah's largest national park features numerous short hiking trails, including Whale Rock, Mesa Arch, Upheaval Dome, and Aztec Butte, which passes by several ancestral Puebloan granaries.
